The Bank and Books agents

AI agents that match every bank line, every day.

Two agents keep your bank and your Tally in step. One matches every bank line and checks every statement. The other posts approved entries to Tally and reads them back. Month-end becomes a review, not a rush.

The problem

Month-end should not take a week.

When the bank and the books are matched once a month, by hand, small gaps grow into big ones and nobody can say which number is right.

Missing statement days

A day is skipped or imported twice, and the balances quietly stop adding up.

Bank and Tally disagree

The bank says one balance, Tally says another, and the difference sits in a suspense account.

Entries posted twice or never

A voucher is entered twice, or a payment never reaches the books at all.

Your bank-and-books team

Two agents. Every line matched, every entry confirmed.

The Reconciliation Agent proves the bank agrees with the books. The Recording Agent makes sure the books hold exactly what was approved.

R

Reconciliation Agent

Matches every bank line every day and checks each statement is complete and genuine.

What it does

  • Matches exact amount and reference first, then approved rules
  • Checks no day is missing and no statement is imported twice
  • Checks each opening balance equals the last closing balance
  • Gives every difference an owner and a deadline

Never does

  • Guess a match
  • Create or delete a bank line

Logged 06:03 · Reconciliation Agent · 214 of 220 lines matched

R

Recording Agent

Posts approved entries into Tally, reads them back and builds the daily reports.

What it does

  • Posts approved entries with the evidence attached
  • Reads each voucher back from Tally to confirm
  • Builds the evening report
  • Sets the day status: Reconciled, Provisional or Not closed

Never does

  • Post without an approval or an approved rule
  • Call an entry posted while Tally is offline

Logged 06:05 · Recording Agent · 41 vouchers posted and read back

Use cases

Where the Bank and Books agents go to work.

A statement day is missing

The account is marked incomplete and the day stays Not closed until the statement arrives.

Someone edits Tally directly

The changed voucher is spotted the next morning and checked against its approval.

Bank charges and fees

Known charges are posted by a rule you approved once, so they never pile up unbooked.

Tally is offline at day end

Entries wait in a queue and show as pending, never as posted.

Matched, posted, closed

A day closes only when the bank agrees.

Every bank line gets a status. Approved entries are posted and read back from Tally. A bank debit with no approved request is never matched away; it waits for a person and the day is not shown as closed.

While you sleep

The books are checked before the office opens.

By morning, every bank line from yesterday is matched or explained, and the owner sees one honest day status.

Sample day

Every line matched once. Every voucher confirmed in Tally.

Questions

Bank and Books questions, answered.

Do we need a link to the bank?

No. The agents work from the statement files your bank already provides. A direct link can be added later where your bank offers one.

What happens if a statement is missing?

The account is marked incomplete, the day is not shown as closed, and the agent keeps asking until the statement arrives. It never invents a missing line.

Does it post into Tally by itself?

Only entries that were approved, or that follow a rule you approved. Every voucher is read back from Tally to confirm it landed correctly.

What if Tally is offline?

Entries wait in a queue and show as pending. They are never reported as posted until Tally confirms them.

How does it know a match is right?

An automatic match needs the exact amount, a reliable reference and only one possible candidate, and the Checker Agent re-checks it. Anything less goes to a person.

Can we see the bank reconciliation?

Yes, for every account, every day: book balance plus items in transit equals bank balance, with every item listed.

Let the agents close your books every day.

See the Bank and Books agents match a full synthetic year of bank lines, with planted gaps and errors they have to catch.
